g-parents in town

We've enjoyed a fun visit with grandparents this weekend! Abigail's parents even got away for a 24 hour date while A stayed at home with G&G .. many thanks Grandma & Grandad!
A quick recap of some weekend highlights: Abigail enjoyed lots of stories....

...more stories.....

Kind of like Where's Waldo, except it's Where's Abby....

Raisins with grandma

Sandbox as slide

Playing with Grandad's new (very cool) iPad . . . it came with a Winnie the Pooh book . . . Abigail is sold on the concept.

Lots of kitchen time

And we set up A's big girl bed! (Thanks to Emily and Natalie for another great hand-me-down..) We've yet to make the transition from crib, but figure getting comfy with the idea of the big girl bed may be a good first step... Po seemed to like it, so that's a good sign.

And lunch out on the town ... come back soon Grandma & Grandad!

phone calls

UPDATE: Sometimes it's fun to look back and see what we were up to exactly a year ago . . . what are the odds that Abigail would have been talking on the same phone in the exact same spot in the house on the exact same day, and that we blogged about it both times???? This is a must view for compare and contrast! What a difference a year makes...

And while we're at it, why not look at another April 26...this one 2 years ago, when we were just getting the blog started and posting a few pics of A's first 6 weeks. Sure hope that we remember to post on April 26 next year...we're on a roll.

Now, back to the original post:

Abigail had many very important phone calls to catch up on this morning....

The cheesy camera smile.

Doesn't Abby look like a big girl with her hair in a ponytail?

Abigail considers the possibilities when asked "who are you going to call next?"

Ponytail: rear view

And then it was mama's turn to make a phone call ... using A's pink phone no less!

soccertime

A's first soccer "practice" was this weekend! Here she is standing on her color spot and doing the airplane....

Our shy-in-large-groups girl was very glad to see some familiar faces at soccer . . . Scotty, Akaash, and Anniek were all there!

Many neighborhood 2 and 3 year olds, along with lots of their parents and two very patient coaches get ready for a game of red light green light....

Abigail was not so sure about the parachute.....

But she sure enjoyed helping with clean up at the end of practice - picking up cones is fun! And perhaps her favorite part of soccer was getting smiley face stamps on her hands at the end of practice...something to look forward to for next week!

big girl, big helper, big sister?!?

Abby reminds us many times each day that she is a Big Girl. As if we needed to be reminded.... Here she is helping papa make scrambled eggs.

Playing with her buddy Akaash in the sandbox.

Action shot.

Visiting the piggies at the zoo and making sure Bear has a good view.

Hello George, the mini donkey.

Abby sneaks a peek at the panda bear.

Panda was eating bamboo! Abby told all of her dolls and friends about this when we got home.

Since you can't climb in the real panda bear's lap . . .

. . . this statue will have to do.

Abby loves her bubble baths these days.

Scoop in hand, ready for action.

And last but not least, Abigail contemplates her future as a Big Sister . . . news that is becoming impossible to hide! We are over half-way there, and are very excited for our August arrival! We hope Abby has many kisses for the wee one. Maybe she'll even share her beloved saline nose drops....

"There's a baby in mommy's tummy!" is usually quickly followed by "There's a baby in papa's tummy??"

Oh what adventures await us!

eggs, eggs, eggs

Happy Easter from Abigail. Little A liked hunting for treasures in her Easter basket. But Easter grass stuck to bare feet is not her favorite thing. Just in case you were wondering.

Action shot. Last year A's plastic eggs had Cheerios in them. This year we opted for Puffins. Abby is not (yet) a chocolate fan . . . check back next year.

The easter bunny (read: grandparents) was so thoughtful and got Abby a cute little book, Wake Up Bunny! . . .

. . . and a sweet little duckie. In the split second after this photo was taken Abby gave duckie a big hug and the two of them were nearly inseparable for the rest of the day.

Oh duckie, let me try to take your dress off and change your diaper.

After our early morning easter fun we went to an egg hunt at some friends' house. Abby was one of the littlest egg hunters, and the big kids were good sports and left the more visible eggs for her to find (with a little help from mama and papa).... She was a little unsure at the beginning, but she got into it as she found a few eggs.

And then we were off to the races.

Pleased by her haul, and glad that mama is toting around her froggy easter basket for her.
Note: Abby did try on a very cute dress this morning, that she momentarily considered wearing. But then she had a dramatic change of heart and tearfully announced that "Abby no like wearing dresses!" Pants it is!

weekend fun

Abigail awoke this morning to find a fun surprise in the backyard! A sandbox!!

It was still chilly this morning so we bundled up and dug right in.

Scoop scoop scoop.

Abby approves of this new toy.

And then, later on today we went on our first ride of the season at the carousel! This was a favorite activity last summer. Today Abby picked out her own horse.

"Hi Mommy!"

Wheeeeeeee

blue

Abigail is very into diapering all of her pals these days. Blue is a very patient subject.

Proud of her skills.
