oregon hike

August Oregon trip ... hiking to the giant tree near Cape Perpetua!

Hiking along...

...hand in hand.

Under the big tree.

In front of the big tree.

This is a really, really big tree!

Nate could have spent all day here ... two of his loves - rivers and bridges - what more could you need?!

the coast

While in Oregon, we blasted to the coast for a night .. first stop: lunch at Mo's.  Abigail did not remember the last time she was here at Mo's (with Mommy's cousin Adam).

Let's go check out the water.

Fearsome foursome.

Abigail kept a safe distance from this crabby critter.

Kids don't float.  Wiser words were never spoken.

"Hey! I'm going to see the ocean for the first time!"

Ahhhh, the Pacific.

Taking time to smell the roses pick some flowers.

We arrived at our rental house and did the quick hike on the property to the Giant Tree.

Restless hikers.

View from our house at the coast.

Our casa for a night.

Abigail slept well there.

So did Nate.

Beachy time.

Tide pools!

Starfish!

Oh, ocean.

Deep beach thoughts by Nate & Abby.

eugene!

Belated pics from our great Oregon adventure!  We enjoyed many meals chez Pop Pop, where ice cream dessert is always served with lunch and dinner.  Nate & Abigail's dream come true!

Post-lunch courtyard plant inspection.

This courtyard loop provided endless hours of excitement for A&N.

One of three courtyard benches ... aka "bus stops".

Playing with Aunt Jennifer's old doll, and admiring the amazing doll clothes that Dee Dee sewed ... leopard print and stylish cuts ... Dee Dee has always been hip and ahead of her time!

Red carpet dance.

Hubbard Lane lunch with Pop Pop!

Afternoon sunning on the deck.

Dee Dee & Nate read the truck books from the library (again)!

Cuties.

Three generations.  (We talked to the fourth generation while we were out on the deck .. Grandma & Grandad were in Seattle en route to Alaska!)

Blackberries!

Triumphant blackberry pickers head home, learning new songs from Great-Grandma Dee Dee on the way.
