busy bees

When G&G were in town last weekend we went out to brunch and Grandma snapped this cute pic of Abby + Nate keeping busy with restaurant projects....

thai food

Nate and Abby wrap up the weekend at a local Thai restaurant. Rice and steamed veggies (and pb&j from home) were a big hit, as were the ice waters with straws!

busy busy

We had a busy weekend -- lots of fun catching up with lots of friends and remembering fun times at G&G's last weekend.....
And some q-time at home too.... dry erase board anyone?  Big hit here!
One highlight: brunch out with Georgia and her family.  We joked that there was a "table for two" (aka Georgia + Abigail and Sophie + Nate) on either side of us and that we were just out for a double date.
Abby's not the only one who likes her new chair..... Nate gets to try it out while big sis takes a nap.

Also, major news: NATE HAS LEARNED HOW TO CRAWL!!! At approximately 10.5 months of age, Nate can (slowly, with his left leg tucked under his bottom) crawl short distances.  Farewell to the days of putting Nate down and finding him in the same spot when you return.  Nate's crawling speed is reduced due to the fact that he will complete 1/2 or 1/3 of a crawling motion and then sit up and clap for himself with a look of pure joy.  Repeat this over and over and it takes him a LONG time to get a SHORT distance. But, he seems genuinely pleased with his progress!  And his parents are genuinely thankful for so many months of jolly immobility!

birthday girl!

Guess who is ONE?! Abigail had a very fun birthday today (and birthday weekend before!).
Earlier today, she enjoyed a birthday snack at her table.
"You mean it's not my birthday tomorrow too??"

We went out to eat...
A little yogurt on the go.
Presents! Lots of new things to play with .. . yay! Note the new tricycle in the background too . . . Abigail thanks her cousins Emily and Natalie very much for passing this nifty item along. We are looking forward to taking it for a spin.
More presents! Abigail is a dainty present unwrapper, in constrast with many other aspects of her behavior which we would not characterize as "dainty".

A birthday bath to wind the day down.
But that wasn't all of the birthday fun . . . .yesterday we had lots of 1 (or so) year old pals and their families over for cupcakes. It was very fun! (So much fun that we forgot to take many pictures...)
"Happy Birthday" was sung many times and Abigail loved it every time.
A little later, she and her pal G sat at the table together.
At one point they called a waiter over to order some food . . . (kidding...but these two little ladies have been to their fair share of restaurants - several times together - so we're sure they'll have the hang of everything soon enough).
Then, Scotty blasted onto the scene and everyone was up and running trying to keep up with him!
Post party, climbing on her rocking chair, a favorite pastime lately.
It's been a big, amazing, fun, fast year for us all! Wow! Here's Abigail contemplating the big-ness of it all.

chilly days

Brrrrrr. Due to the chilly weather we have spent a large portion of the weekend so far inside chasing the cat and other similarly fun distractions.Abigail is proud of herself for making Booey jump so high!
She just wants him to come back and do it again!
We did bundle up and make a break for it to go out for an early dinner tonight . . .
Everything on the table must be placed outside of a certain someone's arm-length.
Enjoying a few cheerios - delish.

first restaurant high chair

Abigail thoroughly enjoyed her first restaurant high chair experience, in Oregon to boot....
She had some yummy sweet potatoes . . . **
. . . while the rest of us enjoyed our own meals.
**PS - note that grandma got us a bunch of bows - Abigail has a new look!
