books and brooms

Abigail has been doing a good job at the weekly Twosies pogram at the library. Usually she goes with Madeleine and Akaash, but this week she and Papa went together! Here's Abby during the craft time....

Glue sticks and tissue paper - oh my!

And this morning, sweeping the front steps with Papa before some friends came over for bagels.

big girl bed

Yesterday and today Abigail has taken her nap in her big girl bed! It has been set up in another room for almost a month, and then suddenly yesterday Abigail announced that she wanted to sleep in it. She seemed pretty sure about that, so we took the plunge. (She also seemed pretty sure at night time about sleeping in her crib...so the transition is far from complete...). Here she is after waking up from her first non-crib nap:

And here she is this morning helping to get ready for brunch with Janet & Alan & Emma. We'll miss them when they move to Florida this summer!

Ask Abby to smile and this is what you get these days....

dinner with georgia

We had a fun dinner with Georgia and her parents this weekend! Georgia was a great hostess. Here the girls wait patiently for pie and ice cream to be served - a huge hit. We forgot our camera, but more pics are on G's blog....

today's visit to the gardens

Another weekend, another visit to the gardens, another tunnel.

Abigail explores.

Abigail attempts to imitate the pregnant-mommy-squat.

Papa and Abby run over to the weeping beech tree.

So many nice trees - this a dawn redwood (a deciduous conifer and living fossil according to Papa).

Abigail walks the meditation maze, contemplating the meaning of 2-year old life. Conclusion: when you want something, you must first always whine whine whine; throw temper tantrum when whining doesn't work.

A parting hug to a tree friend. See you again soon.

salad, bill clinton

Abigail has been very helpful in the kitchen lately - stirring salad dressing and helping pour it on the lettuce. Here, she gives the final product a try.

Two salad munchers.

And, unrelated to salad, last night Abigail stayed home with Madeleine while A's parents went to a World Environment Center dinner. Bill Clinton was there to present an award, and we both got to shake his hand! Abigail was unimpressed when we gave her the scoop this morning.

fun soccertime

Last Sunday Abigail really had fun at soccertime! She participated in many (most even!) of the activities, didn't want mama/papa to hold her the whole time, wasn't too distracted by the playground on the other side of the soccer field, and was just generally in a good mood. At one point she blazed her own trail over to the goal which was filled with soccer balls.....

Lots of soccer balls.

Scotty even came over to join in the fun!

giant pizza

On Mother's Day we went to the zoo, where there happens to be a giant pizza to play on. Here's Abigail emerging from a very large olive.

Sitting on a mushroom.

Pat the tomato.

Helping to stir the sauce.
After our zoo trip in the morning we couldn't resist going out for pizza lunch . . . Abigail nearly polished off a whole kids sized pizza at our neighborhood place - A's best pizza eating performance to date.

more garden shots

Belated pics from last weekend's garden visit . . . the azaleas were still in bloom!

We saw some baby geese....

Geese really are kind of funny looking.

Abby found a house in the woods with little mushroom chairs.

And Papa helped Abby play with the water in a fountain (or "mountain" as Abigail calls it).

What a fun butterfly chair!

Good thing A's hat isn't green or we might have lost her in this sea of leaves.

tunnel

At some beautiful local gardens there is a Children's Garden, and in that Children's Garden is a very wonderful tunnel made of vines and other fun plants.
Abigail loves it.

She went through the tunnel many, many times.....

Careful to step or hop from stump step to stump step.

And after making it to the end of the tunnel, each time would announce: "moooooooorrrre" and would be off and running to go through the tunnel again.

More weekend photos soon.... Happy Mother's Day!

g-parents in town

We've enjoyed a fun visit with grandparents this weekend! Abigail's parents even got away for a 24 hour date while A stayed at home with G&G .. many thanks Grandma & Grandad!
A quick recap of some weekend highlights: Abigail enjoyed lots of stories....

...more stories.....

Kind of like Where's Waldo, except it's Where's Abby....

Raisins with grandma

Sandbox as slide

Playing with Grandad's new (very cool) iPad . . . it came with a Winnie the Pooh book . . . Abigail is sold on the concept.

Lots of kitchen time

And we set up A's big girl bed! (Thanks to Emily and Natalie for another great hand-me-down..) We've yet to make the transition from crib, but figure getting comfy with the idea of the big girl bed may be a good first step... Po seemed to like it, so that's a good sign.

And lunch out on the town ... come back soon Grandma & Grandad!
