busy busy

We had a busy weekend that flew by with no blog postings! Many playdates, dinners with friends, walks, books read, etc. "Read it again, please?"
All these teeth come in handy for crunching on crackers.

president obama

We joined the masses today in downtown Washington today for celebratory inaugural festivities. We were lucky to have an indoor brunch party to attend (with big screen TVs), so Abigail got to experience the action but didn't have to venture past the security perimeter or brave the cold for hours. Here we are arriving in the hustle bustle.
More of the scene.
Back at home, Abigail spent some time reflecting on the day and sharing her thoughts on the inaugural address . . .
More deep thoughts.
And some play time.

inauguration

We feel lucky to be witnessing such a historic event . . . a few pictures to share of the preparations in Washington, DC. At dusk:

The view from the "close-in" seats!

Getting the stage ready . . .

the norm

We're all here, just doing our thing. After many stealth-like safari-photo-shoot attempts at photographing the elusive top teeth, here they are, captured purely by accident.

Little miss busy-buzz, with a case of the bedhead.

Later that morning, we have the hair a little more under control....in preparation for our umpteenth reading of Pat the Bunny! We are all proud that like Paul - one of two
main characters (or three counting Bunny) - Abigail has learned to smell the flowers. Sometimes she licks them, but most times she sniffs them.

chilly days

Brrrrrr. Due to the chilly weather we have spent a large portion of the weekend so far inside chasing the cat and other similarly fun distractions.Abigail is proud of herself for making Booey jump so high!
She just wants him to come back and do it again!
We did bundle up and make a break for it to go out for an early dinner tonight . . .
Everything on the table must be placed outside of a certain someone's arm-length.
Enjoying a few cheerios - delish.

toothy 2009

We are all spending the weekend decompressing after a 5-day work week . . . a shock to the system post-vacation! Abigail is hard at work on her many emerging teeth. She's got six teeth all or partially out now, and from the looks of her gums, there could be more on the way soon. All in all, we are quite impressed with her (mostly) good mood, all things considered. Cold teething rings, fingers, towels, you name it, any object is being used for toothy relief.Even her pal, Mr. Snowman finger-puppet.
Abigail modeling her new helmet, in anticipation of biking adventures come spring . . . Note the "safari" theme. Unfortunately, this does not come in adult sizes.
"I don't care if there is no more milk in the bottle. I will keep chewing on it until you take it away!"
Polar bear friend is worn out after a day of playing.
"Again people . . . how many times do I have to tell you, there are these sharp little things popping out of my gums. Help!"

brunching

We had a great time at G's house for a New Years Day brunch . . . It was all fun and games until Abigail started trying to invade Georgia's dining space and steal her beans.
Ever-present tongue ready to taste bean-y goodness.
Time to go home....

"We have to leave already?"

perspective

Abigail went to visit her first dinosaur while in Atlanta over Christmas! To put her relative size into perspective, see photo below (with special thanks to photographer Uncle Ben). Papa and Abigail had a fun time exploring the museum while Mommy had a good time camped out at home with fellow sisters-in-law.
Abigail was very brave and touched the dino's toe!

hola!

Abigail woke up from a nap today to hear the big news . . . she's going to Mexico in February for Papa's (ahem, 40th) birthday! Mayan Riviera watch out . . . lovey has her passport (and sunglasses) and is ready to go.

Later that day, Abigail and Booey spend a few quality minutes together gazing out of the front glass door . . . a favorite pastime for them both.

lovey loves lasagna!

Guess who loves lasagna??Mmm..... Maybe Abigail's preference for pureed foods is evolving....!

separated at birth

So, with Rod in the news a lot lately, we couldn't help but notice some similarities . . . he and Abigail must have the same hair stylist. Puffy hairdos are in we hear. Blagojevich doesn't seem to favor pink turtlenecks, but you never know, he might look good in one.

top teeth debut

If Abigail made her own personal resolution for 2008 to pop out some top teeth, she just barely squeezed it in! Here she is on Dec 31st with two top teeth barely poking through her gums, which were not there the night before .. . "You do realize that these top teeth hurt and make me extremely crabby and I will only nap in 20-30 minute increments now . . . ha hahahahah."
She still found some time for playing in her new play-zone.
She's pretty much got the drawers figured out. . . constant excitement and surprise about what is inside . . . memory for 9.5 month olds must not be toooo long.

more christmas

So, we neglected to capture on film any Abigail-present-opening on Christmas itself . . . luckily we had more gifts waiting for us at home!"Really? I can rip it? Fun!"
A little blue car for Abigail from Grandma and Grandad!
Taste test . .. yum.
And a fun wooden turtle from Aunt Jennifer!
Feeling frisky after opening presents.
Speaking of frisky . . . Booey was so happy to see us when we got home. And we were happy to see him too - nice have a lap-warmer again!
